The new FirstRAID G3 unit is a RAID version of our popular 2-bay DXR unit. It combines the redundancy and storage capacity of a RAID 5 array with the ease and reliability of our popular DXR solution. Without any additional software, the FirstRAID G3 unit will set up a RAID 5 array and automatically mirror the array over to a drive of the matching size, providing you with reliable and fast onsite backup as well as no-hassle off site backup. Just swap the bottom drive with another High-Rely media of matching size and the FirstRAID will automatically mirror to the new drive!

Highly-Reliable Backup

The new FirstRAID G3 unit provides reliable backup for mission critical data. Following good backup procedure, the FirstRAID G3 will provide offsite backup as well as 2 nearline copies of your valuable data. Not only that, but the FirstRAID G3 also benefits from the redundancy of a RAID 5 array. For critical data loss to occur, 3 drives would have to fail while offsite backups are either inaccessible or destroyed! Thus, failure of the Highly-Reliable backup solution is Highly-Unlikely.

Easy and affordable to upgrade

As the hard drive industry changes rapidly and dramatically, the FirstRAID G3 is built to handle changes in storage capacity. Assuming the standard configuration of a RAID 5 array mirrored against a removable drive, the FirstRAID G3 can easily and affordably be upgraded to accomodate the latest high-capacity drives. Although not recommened, in a RAID 0 configuration, using 2TB drives, the FirstRAID G3 can accomodate a whopping 10 TB of storage! This will increase in the future, as drives get larger.

Introducing FirstRAID G3^TM - standalone 5 drive RAID 5 redundant backup solutions with autocopy removable media capability for off-site backup storage.

Our FirstRAID G3 system directly attaches to your fileserver using a single, industry standard eSATA or USB2.0 connection. You can connect it to any eSATA Host Bus adapter that is multi-drive capable. The eSATA port does not need RAID functionality because our internal "in-line" controllers handles the RAID.

• Duplicate your backup automatically. FirstRAID's top 5 drives are configured as a RAID 5 array and the 6th bottom drive as a stand-alone drive to backup the RAID 5 array. Use the RAID volume for your nearline back-up with automatic redundant protection. Then automatically or through host software, copy the RAID volume to the bottom volume and remove for off-site disaster recovery and storage. For example, use five 250GB SATA drives to form a fully redundant 1TB RAID 5 array. *Now, install a 1 TB SATA drive in the bottom bay and configure your backup software to do nightly backups to the RAID and also to duplicate that backup to the stand alone drive. Or, let the FirstRAID G3 make the off-site backup copy automatically, the G3 can perform this for you by itself without software. The result? Two copies of your critical data, one of which will survive a single drive failure, the other can be pulled out and transported off-site. If you chose not to use backup software, you share the FirstRAID out to your network, let work be done on it by day, at night time pull the bottom drive as your backup and replace it with another - this is completely softwareless backup (no backup software needed)!
• No RAID software. Because of its unique in-line controller, there is no software, drivers or any additional configuration required. Plug the FirstRAID into a multi-drive capable eSATA controller and you're ready to go! Like our other popular High-Rely products, you can use FirstRAID with most backup software so no training is necessary.
• No Administration. Like our other High-Rely products, FirstRAID is directly attached so it inherits the security properties of the server or workstation it is attached to. Unlike NAS units which are their own servers and often require seperate configuration and administration.
• FAST. Redundant RAID 5/1 backup can write up to 180 Giga Bytes per Hour. *Performance will vary depending on many factors within your configuration.
• Flexible. The FirstRAID can also be configured for RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 using up to 5 removable drives. Also, because the FirstRAID's S-Bay media carrier is compatible with the High-Rely product family, you may use its media interchangably with our other High-Rely products.
