Introducing High-Rely BNAS HRS-201(tm) Backup Appliance. The BNAS 201, is a dedicated backup appliance with an integrated removable 1.5TB SATA drive that uses High-Rely technology to automatically mirror the internal 1.5TB data repository to an external hot pluggable media which is compatible with other High-Rely products, providing software-less backup. The built-in removable drive, as well as compatibility with High-Rely's other products, allows for "seeding" off-site vaulting locations, and the ability to retain multiple data sets on-site of media-based storage for backup, archiving and quick restores. The BNAS HRS-201 was not only designed as a head piece for other High-Rely products but was designed for use with the Kaseya Back Up Disaster Recovery (BUDR) system in mind.

Conventional Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliances are not a good choice for backup because they are missing the ability to transport data off-site quickly. Some appliances do include the option to off-site data via the internet (over-the-wire) but, Internet based backup is slow. Firms with large data sets must seed their initial backups so it doesn't take weeks or months to get started. The BNAS's ability to supply high capacity removable, storable and transportable media to the over-the-wire repository is unmatched in flexibility and scalability. In addition, the ability to quickly restore large amounts of historical data is difficult when pulling data over an internet connection but is no problem for the BNAS with it's selection of High-Rely media at hand. Thus, the HRS-201 BNAS is a platform suited for both worlds of over-the-wire backup and media-based backup. Additionally, as a premium NAS, it offers the power, performance and quality to stand in as a virtual server for a failed servers in mission critical installations.
Finally, the BNAS ships with Windows Storage server to allow the installer maximum compatibility and flexibility with existing Windows networks.
BNAS Features:
-
A High-performance Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. Capable of backup throughputs of almost 3 times the speed of consumer grade NAS appliances.
-
A dedicated Backup Appliance with off-site (over the internet) replication plus support for Imaging Active Directory, Exchange, and other open files.
-
An integrated removable disk tray to allow rapid data recovery of large data sets without the need to wait for internet restore during a disaster.
-
ESATA connectivity to rest of the High-Rely products for building complete enterprise-wide backup, storage and archive solutions with the High-Rely family of components.
-
High serviceability via the careful use of commonly available non proprietary service parts in critical areas shown to be most prone to failure by industry data (uses a standard ATX power supply).
-
A small 2U form factor to minimize server room realestate.
-
A powerful 64 bit 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 processor running Windows storage server to host one or more "Virtual machines" during a disaster. Virtual servers can use previously stored backup images.

BNAS HRS201's use of the Windows Storage Server licensing model does not restrict backup based on data size or machine count so clients can backup every machine in the enterprise at no additional license cost.
The removable aluminum tray used by the BNAS 201 fully protects the SATA Hard drive. Extra removable media and/or external drive receivers can be purchased separately. Additional tray compatible devices are available to work with the removable drives such as a one bay USB/ESata connected portable unit, a 5 bay, an 8 bay rack mount and more, making multi-component systems of solutions possible.
The unit has been designed with sufficient CPU power (Core 2 processor with 8GB of RAM) to act as a host for virtual servers during disasters and server outages. Customer can use VmWare, Virtual PC or other virtualization environments of their choice (the unit includes dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with the intention that the second Ethernet can support hosting Virtual machines using a separate connection than is used by the backup). Each unit includes a total of three hard drives with a total of 3.5TB of storage.
- 1.5TB Primary data repository
- Removable 1.5TB mirrored to first drive
- a 500GB hard drive is used to support OS boot and server virtualization.
